Standard Trees
Despite changing trends in the last few years standard trees continue to be the mainstay of the nursery business. With 300 acres, and over 1 million standard trees in production, we are the countries leading supplier.
70% of these trees are propagated on the nursery by budding, while the balance is grown from selected seedlings. Our annual budding programme involves budding 150,000 rootstocks which have been carefully graded. These young trees must then be trained and pruned carefully as they will form the basis of our future stock.
As a very wide range of varieties is produced, including both native and non native species, we can offer a suitable tree for almost any situation. Our experienced sales team are always on hand to offer any help and advice you may need.
Our standard trees are sold in sizes ranging from 6cm to 16cm. They can be supplied either bareroot or rootballed and as they are produced here in Ireland they are well adapted to our climate and soil type resulting in minimum transplanting stress. Rootballing is always recommended for larger sizes and will reduce any setback caused to the tree at transplanting.
