Semi Mature Trees
At SAP we now have over 100 acres dedicated to the production of top quality semi mature trees. These trees which are 20cm to 40cm in girth are ready to give any landscape project instant maturity.
Our land at New Inn was purchased 4 years ago for the purpose of concentrating large tree production on one site. We now have 20,000 trees at various stages of production. We harvest in excess of 5,000 trees per year, which are delivered to projects around the country.
The trees used for our semi mature tree production are of superior quality and are individually selected from our standard tree crop. They are then re-planted, trained and nurtured for a further 4 years to form perfect, straight and well balanced trees.
At harvest the trees are carefully selected and rootballed using state of the art equipment. They are then transported direct to the customer on customised trucks which are equipped with cranes to facilitate unloading. As the trees are grown in Ireland they are well adapted to our climate and soil type, and once planted they will adapt quickly and easily to their new home.
As part of our long term plan we see increasing demand in the future for even larger trees, and as a result we have started a new planting programme which will see 10,000 25cm girth trees planted on for a further 4 years for harvest at sizes of 40cm +.
