Betula utilis jacquemontii (White barked Himalayan Birch)  This variety has the whitest bark of any birch. An elegant tree suitable for both small and large gardens, brightening up any winter garden with its white bark lit up by the low sun.  It can be grown as a specimen in the lawn or in a group to give a woodland effect. Deciduous.   Habit Large tree with slender, straight leading stemand an open, domed crown, main branches spreading picturesquely, fast growing Size 15-20 metres in height and 7 to 12 metres in spread. Annual growth 45cm in height, 25cm spread. Bark Distinctive white bark Foliage The leaves of the different species vary but little. All are alternate, doubly serrate, feather-veined, petiolate, and stipulate Flowers Green-yellow cakins up to 5 cm long, March/April. Site Full sun / Half shade Soils Damp and well drained.
